Check your System Folder, and make sure that "DA Handler" and "Backgrounder" are in there. "DA Handler" acts as a sort of "application" taht contains all DAs under Multifinder. If you try to open a DA without it present, the Mac will just beep since it is unable to launch the DA "shell." BTW, you will note that all the lines above are neatly right-aligned.
