Now I would like to take this opportunity to return the favor: Using an SE/20 with 4meg. running under 6.0.2, and with backgrounder but not DA handler in the Systems folder, I too get the beep when attempting to select a DA under Multifinder. But I've found that if I hold down the option key just before & during the selection of the desired DA, it works fine, just like in the Finder.
