I'd like to know what the format of sound files is for the Mac. These files are "snd resource" files, or some such thing. I'd like to know this in terms appropriate for using these files on machines other than the Mac. (I know, heresy!) Background info: I recently came across a (dare I say it?) IBM PC program (remac) that will "play" Macintosh sounds, such as Clint Eastwood saying "Go ahead, Make my day." I'd like to write a similiar program for my workstation, but need to know the format of the sound file: How many bits/value, a formula for mapping the value to frequency, and if any timing information is in the file. (Based on remac, I'd say that the answer to the last one is no). Thanks!
