I'd get the "Error reading file" message (even though it was writing). Like others, at first I tried to initialize the floppy and often that failed and that's when you toss the diskette as bad (unless you have an IBM that can reformat it as a DOS diskette). Someplace along the line I found that just changing the directory structure on the floppy usually makes it possible to complete the file transfer. For example, if the file won't copy, I can make a new folder on the floppy and copy the file into that folder. Or, vice versa, if I was trying to copy the file into a folder on the floppy, I just copy it to the root of the floppy and then move it into the folder later. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm able to save a lot more floppies that way. Doesn't it suggest something other than hardware problems? Or is it possible to get past a bad spot on the floppy in this manner that you can't get past using the first copy procedure? I'd be interested in any insights on what is happening. Shirley Kehr
