Someone called me today and reported the following problem:

After configuring a NeXT for internet access (which appeared
successful), the owner shut down and went home for the weekend.
Upon returning, the machine was powered up.  It made it as far
as the disk check, where it hung.  Repeated attempts at booting
always gave the same results.

I suggested disconnecting from the net and repowering the machine
(we've seen a similar problem where the configuration was bad, and
disconnection allowed booting to proceed.  We then fixed the problem).
This time, it didn't help; the machine still hangs.

Any advice?
