Initially, to make things simple, we are trying only one card, but so far without success. The board and network seem O.K. because if we boot DOS all works fine, but with AIX no such luck. The opsys and tcp/ip are at level 01.02.0014.0000 Apparently an upgrade is required (to level 01.02.0300.000) but this is currently not with us. (Another customer in the U.K. has this update and it makes no difference to them). IBM technical support has talked us throught the `minor' changes required so we should now be at the 300 level by a back door route. On rebooting the following message is issued:- ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCGIFFLAGS): no such interface netstat -i gives:- Name Mtu Network Address Ipkts .... 3c0* 1492 none none 0 .... Numerous attempts have been made including rebuilding and installing kernals like ther's no tomorrow but to no avail. What would be nice is a piece of paper (electronic of course) containing installation instructions, IBM cannot supply one. The situation is getting desparate so I sugested I take a 3com card to the IBM (U.K.) technical support centre at Basingstoke and try an installation there, but thats no good as IBM don't have any ethernet! Are 3com cards supported? Any help would be most appreciated. Paul Jarvis Computer Centre, Imperial College, London pj@cc.ic.ac.uk
