D or any i386 OS Keywords: ESIX SyQuest Message-ID: <214@beagle.uucp> Date: 27 Aug 90 00:43:20 GMT Organization: Complete disorganization Lines: 15 I am looking into the problem of backing up my HD. Does anyone run a SyQuest SCSI drive on their 386 box. Could I just treat it as a HD and not mount it at boot time or do I need special drivers for that drive? I have ESIX Rev. D and an Adaptec 1542A controller card. My HD is a Miniscribe 9380S. This would allow me to have another drive and I could back up my HD 44 Megs at a time using tar or cpio or apio or whatever program I wished. Will this work or is it a pipe dream. For those who don't know what this drive is, it is a removable media drive similar to a Bournolli (nice spelling huh). Any other backup suggestions from the net. I have looked into Archive and Wangtek tape drives also. Does anyone have these and do they like them. I will summarize all my responses in about 7 days. -- Jim Chandler asuvax!xroads!beagle!chandler chandler@beagle.UUCP
