Subject: Control G problems with GNU EMACS and GNU BASH

Whenever I'm using GNU Emacs (having started it up from GNU BASH) and hit a 
control G to cancel a META-X command, BASH responds with a fatal error (1)
and logs me off the system.

I'm running both emacs and bash on an Interactive 386/ix (SYS V 3.2)
system.  Has anyone seen this problem and/or does anyone have a fix?
