If anyone would like to learn extensively about the transport
logistics of moving equipment to the Persian Gulf, I would
suggest the book _Sword Point_ by Harold Coyle.  Also author
of _Team Yankee_.  He describes a scenario where the Soviet 
Union invades Iran, and the U.S. responds with an invasion.
He then describes in great detail the necessary efforts to put
American troops in Iran.  Not a bad book
