The Dutch government decided yesterday ( August 13 ) to send two Dutch
navy ships to the Persian/Arabic Gulf. The two ships are:

Hr. Ms. Pieter Florisz, frigate
		       Armament : 76 mm OTO-MELARA gun
				  30 mm Goalkeeper Anti-Missile gun
				  ( To shoot down Exocets )
				  Sea Sparrow SAM
				  Harpoon SSM
				  Anti Submarine torpedoes
				  Lynx helicopter

Hr. Ms. Witte de With, air-defence frigate
		       Armament : 30 mm Goalkeeper Anti-Missile gun
				  Tartar SAM
				  Sea Sparrow SAM
				  Harpoon SSM
				  Anti Submarine torpedos

Both ships have about 180 man onboard ( The Pieter Florisz also has
about 20 female crew members ). May be the ships will be fitted with
extra 20 mm guns.

I also heard that the Belgian government is sending two minehunters and
a support ship.
