The Latvi (I believe spelling correct) was a F-16 copy with a
delta wing configuration (similar to FX-16).  It was strongly
fought againist by U.S. plane makers and some Israeli cabinet
members as being too costly with prefectly good F-16s and F-15s
could be obtained from the U.S.  I'm not sure of the performance,
but (if it was Israeli) it must be very good.  Anyway . . . the project
was cancelled a few years back (quite a few Israelis, including most
of the design team and assemblers, were VERY HOT about this!!)
