         Maybe that's why the two top-scoring pilots of the Uninted
 States flew P-38's? Personally, I would rather have one hit take the
 guy out rather than have to peck on him several times, allowing the
 badguy to respond. This was also the attitude of the pilots themselves,
 as the controversy over tracer bullets in fighters points out.
