Over the next few months, I want to build a suite of benchmarking
routines for a variety of database engines (and later on for
applications built on top of the engines).

Can anyone point me at code, papers, standards or other information
useful for benchmarking databases? If you've done this sort of thing,
what measurements did you make and how did you go about it?
