We very much appreciate your interest. I have circulated copies of many of your comments in the TC. I'd like to take the opportunity to try to clarify a few things. Current membership is 21 people. Roughly one third are implementors, and only a few of those are commercial vendors. Of the users, they include users of most commercially available systems, as well as individuals who "roll their own" and love it. It's a self-selected group of masochists willing to donate many hours (about 200 hours/year/member in meetings, plus time spent outside meetings) and money for travel. Some are very advanced experts, others just casual users. We've gone to a lot of effort to meet in most parts of the country in order to enable local Forth users to attend at least one meeting: we've met in Washington DC, LA, Northern CA, San Diego, Rochester, Boston, Melbourne FL, Portland and Vancouver. Future meetings are planned for Detroit (11/6-10/90), Los Angeles and Colorado, and we'll happily entertain other suggestions. It's also very easy to join: you can be a voting member of the TC at your second consecutive meeting, and you can vote in the technical sessions on your first visit. Our efforts to get a broad base of input have paid off with active participation (attending meetings, submitting proposals, etc.) of nearly 200 people over the three years we've been working. We're delighted that Nick Janow enjoyed meeting with us, and hope more of you will come. ----- This message came from GEnie via willett through a semi-automated process.
