We have a Sun-3 running Mach 2.5 right now. However, our department doesn't want more Sun-3s because they think Sun-3s are (going to be?) obsolete. I know that we cannot get Mach source code for Sun SparcStations from CMU and we have to pay $$$ to get it from Mt. Xinu. Now the questions are : (1) Will Mt. Xinu support Mach3.0 later this year? (2) Should we spend money on the software or on a different hardware? (3) Which machine is most cost-effective* to run Mach3.0? Any advices are greatly appreciated. Note *: we are not a rich group and we would like all latest Mach software to run on the new machine. -Ron Chen @ Department of Computer Science University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign rchen@cs.uiuc.edu
