We have a LocalTalk Mac network, with server Vers 2 software (is this the same as "Phase 2" ?), LaserWriters, and a WEBSTER MULTI- GATE to Ethernet. On Ethernet we have, amongst other things, IBM- PCs. We want to provide our PCs on Ethernet with access to the LaserWriters on LocalTalk. We don't want to transfer the PCs to LocalTalk and use an APPLESHARE PC Card. APPLESHARE PC software driving a 3Comm Etherlink II card is claimed to provide the required facility. The software loads and seems to configure OK, but cannot see or access any LocalTalk facilities, nor can it see our Novell "Net- ware for Macintosh" server on Ethernet. The MULTIGATE seems to be doing the right things - from the LocalTalk side our Macs can Telnet to Unix systems, see Netware for Mac server etc. If we put a Mac II with EtherTalk NB card on the ethernet only, everythin- g's fine : it can see the LocalTalk server and Laserwriters. Why won't the AppleShare PC/3Comm Etherlink II work ?? ---- any suggestions as to where we're going wrong would be greatly appre- ciated, as would information on alternative solutions. ----------------------------------------------------------------- John Kyte (jkyte@macadam.mqcs.mq.oz.au) Phone +61 2 805 8948 School of MPCE, Macquarie University 2109 Australia -----------------------------------------------------------------
