Both are fully supported in SunOS, and both have useful features, as does the RPC method. In fact, we use all three methods in various peices of the utilities bundled with the operating system. A bug report has now been filed on the warning message at the beginning of Chapter 10 and 11 in the Network Programmers Guide.
