In any case, I thought their 800 number was for sales only, not service/problems. His only option is to pay for the call (at non-domestic rates). I too have had problems with US-based mail-order companies that the Americans seem to have no trouble dealing with. Perhaps they use a different staff to handle their foreign calls or perhaps they are more indifferent to problems encountered by foreigners.
