True. The Amiga UUCP package assumes a modem connection ONLY. The trick I used at the FAUG demo I gave earlier this year was to connect the Amiga via RS-232 to a StarLAN terminal server box which more-or-less resembles a modem, patch the Amiga's uucico to send two CR's (for autobaud on the StarLAN box) instead of "ATDT", and change /etc/issue on the UNIX box to have "CONNECT" as its first line ... these kludges faked-out AmigaUUCP so that it thought it was talking to a modem.
