As you are moving (rather quickly) around the squares, you will actually spend two 'cycles' on the corner squares: one cycle to get onto the square, and one to turn to the next square. This means that, if you can notice when you reach the corner marked 'X', press the right arrow key (to do a sidestep). The reaction time will account for the time it takes the square to turn you 90 degrees. This should leave you where you want to be.
