Message-ID: Date: 4 Sep 90 21:21:54 GMT Sender: news@wrl.dec.com (News) Distribution: comp Organization: Missionaria Phonibalonica Lines: 32 I'm not sure where this should go, but here goes... I've got an A3000/25-50 that I'm trying to add a second SCSI drive to. Every configuration I've tried has shown similar problems - the boot drive isn't seen every other boot. Best behavior is that after powering the system on, things boot normally, then every other soft reboot I get the animated "Workbench" requester. The second drive is a DEC RZ23, which is a Conners CP3100 in DEC clothing. It's also the boot disk. It works just fine if the Quantum LPS50 isn't in the system. The following configurations have been tried: RZ23 external, both drives terminated. A3000 -> LPS50 -> RZ23, only the RZ23 terminated (the "correct" configuration?) A3000 -> LPS50 -> RZ23, both drives terminated LPS50 -> A3000 -> RZ23, both drives terminated. If the problem only showed up at power-on, I'd believe it were spin-up time on the RZ23. But it occurs after soft reboots, also. What's wierd is that the power-on boot loads Kickstart, _then_ displays the animated workbench prompt! So, any SCSI wizards out there got a suggestion? Need more information?
