You might try this approach:

     Mail your request to   'hp28@gmuvax2.gmu.edu'

Don't use the subject line and in the body of the message you should have
only one line which will look something like this

     'SEND <filename> FROM HP28'

You could send for the index like so:

     'SEND INDEX FROM HP28'

It works, I just did it the other night.
