PC magazine has this add of the Zeos International 386SX-16 laptop
with 1M RAM, 40M hard disk, VGA plasma display (DOS extra $119)
for about $2200. (Weighs 12 lbs, dimensions are respectable too)

This seems to me an outragously low price for a machine of this class.
So I called ZEOS International and found that they have yet another
laptop, similarly configered as above but with 386-20 CPU and VGA
LCD display (and battery pack, charger) for the same price. None of
the machines are shipping yet.

The machines have 2 half length slots and memory upgradable to 8M
($199 for 1M up-grade, $499 for 4M up-grade), hard drive options
are 40M (standard), 80M ($299 extra), 200M ($699 extra).

The Zeos salesman I talked to told me that the memory up-grade is
by SIMMs. I know nothing about memory or how to intall it. But it
seems that SIMMs are for about $100 per Meg these days. Could anyone
tell me how to intall SIMMs (what it takes ) myself? Aren't these
the kind of chips you just plug in somewhere on the motherboard?
I have quite decided to buy Zeos' laptop now, but I'm still swinging
between the ideas having them install 1M memory upgrade or doing it
myself (thus saving $100).  Your help is appreciated.
