In this case the Imagewriter printer driver generates each page of output only once. Under Multifinder an application uses a partition determined by the Finder application size attribute. The driver tries to conserve space by generating the output in approximately 19 horizontal bands. This slows things down quite a bit, because generating each band is done by redrawing the entire page using a clipping region that corresponds to the band. Unfortunately, increasing the application size doesn't help (in the cases I tried). When I write a large batch of checks with Managing Your Money, I find it saves considerable time to reboot under Finder before printing the checks and then reboot with Multifinder after they're done. If I'm only doing a few checks, I don't bother. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Barry Wolman | barry@s66.prime.com Principal Technical Consultant | 500 Old Connecticut Path Prime Computer | Framingham, MA 01701 | 508/879-2960, ext. 1100 ------------------------------------------------------------------------
