The power supply on his plus (which is his bread and butter, he is a free- lance writer) has flaked. Power to the screen just goes away intermitantly. I couldn't tell for sure from his description, but it sounds more like a loose connection than a totally shot supply, but it was hard to tell... Anyway, I would like to know 2 things. First, has anyone had particularly good or bad deallings with repair places in Chicago area? I.e. who are the rip-off joints to avoid? The machine is not under warranty, so if the store claims that it needs a new PS when all it has is a loose wire, the money comes out of his pocket. Also, has anyone had dealings with any of the places that do part-level repair, rather than module swap? This seems likely to be a cheaper route if the PS is bad. Thanks for any info you can give me. My friend will be ever grateful.
