I have the same problem with RISC/OS 4.30-PRE-FCS.  I have gone around
with both Sun and MIPS on the problem, but not gotten anything solved.
I have heard that it is "fixed in 4.5" but since my MIPS rep never
tells me anything (small account, so that's understandable) I don't
know if 4.5 is out, fixes things, or how much it costs.  The latter
doesn't matter as I have no grant money anyway.
