The R4 server is pickier about bad arguments. Many earlier clients passed bad fields to the server. There are several ways to solve the problem: 1) Upgrade to IRIX 3.3 which has newer clients. 2) Do "xset bc" on the Sun to tell the R4 server not to be so persnickety. 3) Compile MIT's X11R4 clients on the 4D.
