I would like to be able to make the standard LaTeX fonts load on demand (if this
is possible?)

My impression is that the standard fonts are loaded into the LaTeX format file
when I execute initex lplain and do a \dump.  Is it possible to change the file
lfonts.tex so that LaTeX can still use different size fonts, but it will load the
fonts when needed?
