Hello,

I'm looking for info so that I can make a somewhat reasonable choice.  I
have a Xenix 386 system (Dell 325 with Xenix 2.3.2) running some
vertical market office DB, WordPerfect(less), etc.  I need to support
the following:

	o	Dial-ins at 300, 1200, and 2400 bps

	o	Dial-outs at above speeds

	o	Future dial-in/outs at 9600 bps, etc.

	o	UUCP connections (and possible PPP) at what ever speeds
		I can get connected at.

	o	Reasonable cost ($450 to $550)

	o	Ability to let a "dumb" MS-DOS program under VP/ix
		access the modem.

The modem will be connected to a port on an Arnet 8-port board.  Ideally
I would like to buy one modem to support all of the above.  The way the
system is used, I wouldn't expect any problems with multiple users
wanting it at once (the main dial-in users will be the SW support folks,
me, and uucp stuff...).

I know that there was a recent thread comparing some of the various 9600
bps modems, and that answered a lot of my questions.  I was "out of the
room" (for several years) for a lot of the recent developments in this
area (my modem at home is a good old, old Radcal-Vadic VA212...) so some
explaination of V.42bis, etc MNPx would also help.
