We are about to be getting a network of Sparcstations with all of the OpenWindows stuff, and were wondering about kanji (Japanese character) support. My impression from the documents is that: - there is a program in x11r3/contrib called `kterm' that does kanji; - that kanji is not supported in the initial release of OpenWindows, but work is being done on it. My questions are: - what software configurations runnable on Sparcstations support kterm? - when will kterm be working under OpenWindows? - what other 16-bit fonts does kterm support, if any? (Chinese, Korean, etc.) - what character coding protocols does kterm support? (e.g. EUC, ISO, JIS, etc.) - is there anyone out there who is familiar with both kterm and Sun's own product for kanji support (JLE) who can talk about the relative merits of each product?
