	some of the people I respect the best in the whole wide
	world; all think X is brain-dead.  Do you have any ideas on
	why?  Did the wide acceptance of X have a lot to do with
	the urgent need to kill NeWS quickly on the part of
	DEC/HP/IBM (basically, did X rise to prominence for
	political rather than technical reasons)?

Who're the people who did X anyway?  I never heard any names
apart from the keyword 'MIT'.
