On initial startup everything looks fine (except for that @!# terminal popping up with its setup menu by default), but as soon as the Xterminal is reset, xdm fails to recognize the server. I guessed that xdm didn't know anything about the server dying and tried to have xdm (in nodaemon mode) respawnd by init, but to no avail. I'm sure, there must be lots of xterminals around working, so what am i doing wrong? following the entries: /usr/lib/X11/xdm/Xservers: ncdxterm:0 foreign /usr/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-config . .
