I try to load a number of pixmaps (or bitmaps), so that I can display them in realtime (this means 25 pictures per second). After a special number I have problems with allocation memory for the pixmaps, but there is enough space in main-memory or swap-area. Where are the pixmaps ? I have tested different machines with this problems. Trying this on a SUN-4-Sparcstation with 32MB main-memory and 128MB swap, I can load up to 20 MB (this is the sum over all pixmaps). On a VAX 3000 with 8MB main-memory and 60MB swap, I can load up to 10 MB. But on an ESV30 with 32MB main-memory and 128MB swap, after nearly 4MB I get memory failed. If somebody could help me please contact me. Edwin Klement email : klement@fhg.agd.de klement@zgdvda Address : Wilhelminenstr. 7 6100 Darmstadt (West-Germany)
