Matthew Chao of Talking Computer Systems will demonstrate the Braille Blazer: a new braille printer distinguished for its affordability and friendliness. At nearly half the price of the nearest competitor, Blazie Engineering has introduced perhaps the first personally affordable braille printer. A built-in speech synthesizer (the same as that in the Braille 'N' Speak) makes operating the printer easy through a voice interactive control panel. The synthesizer can in fact double as the voice of a screen reader program. With the Braille Blazer connected to a laptop computer, Matthew will illustrate the concept of an adaptive, portable work station.
