The concept was that since some were getting replaced by Bradleys and we'd have a few left over it'd be nice to actually build the NBC vehicle instead of just leaving it on permanent back burner. After a while I heard that the M113 idea got canned in favor of buying German vehicles (nice ones as I remember) in some sort of trade for buying some US gear (trucks or something from some senators hometown). Then whoever makes the LAV got into the act and it went for competative bid. Has any been produced or even a contract awarded? It would be real nice to have a few around these days.
