I heard on the news that the Patriot air defense missile has been deployed at 
US bases in Saudi Arabia.  The news says it can defend agains the 300-mile-
range Iraqi Scud missiles (which could carry chemical warheads).  

Is this true?  Would someone please give a run down on the Patriot's 
performance and capabilities.  Thanks.
