the "official" full-featured binaries for NetHack 3.0 pl9 can be
obtained via anonymous ftp from:

linc.cis.upenn.edu (oops i lost the numbers ...)

cd pub/NH3.0        {the source is in this directory as *.tar.Z.uu}
cd PC               {or amiga, atari, mac, os2 for pc binaries}
binary              {binary mode transfer for most files in general}
dir                 {to see what's there}
prompt              {to turn off interactive mode}
mget <file list>    {get what you need}
quit
