HELP!

I am trying to use the EDT emulation in EMACS by loading
the EDT emulation code presumably supplied with the GNUS emacs
distribution.

The keypad commands work fine, but how on earth do I get the
GOLD functions to work?  When I press GOLD

ESC O P

appears at the bottom of the screen, and then pressing
the keypad key does not produce the desired function
but inserts characters into the text.

So what is the correct way to get the GOLD keypad functions.
