What I am looking for is a way to edit Harvard's HG.DIR file so that I can have descriptions of more of my files. Harvard's file handling capabilities are not all that good and it seems like you have to resave a file if you want to change its description. The HG.DIR file seems to be in ascii format. The whole file seems to be on one line. In between each file name is what appears to be a group of graphics characters (characters above ascii 127). Does anyone know the format of the file that they could send me a description (enough of one that I could write a utility to let me edit it)? Does anyone know of any utilities available that do this? Any help would be appreciated. Pete ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Peter P.
