As far as I can tell, this is due to SCL's refusal to macroexpand what look like perfectly respectable macros to me. I have tried asking the interpreter to macroexpand them, too, and no luck. I'd be obliged to anyone who has had similar experiences if he or she would drop me a line. Thanks, Robert
