The machine that receives mail (through sendmail) is where the /var/spool/mail partition is. However, users cannot log in to this machine. Users log into other machines that mount the servers /var/spool/mail. I would like to know if ELM has any problems when the /var/spool/mail is not actually on the machine that ELM is running on. Apparently other mailers have a problem with this (not UCB Mail though).
