First, we just upgrade our Sun 3/280 to run SunOS 4.1, and I took the oppurtunity to install sendmail 5.64, and it compiled fine, but it will not run as a daemon. Any ideas? Second, I installed Sendmial 5.64/IDA on our gateway host (a Microvax-II running Ultrix 4.0) and I am having a major problem. The system is officially known as ul-cs.ulowell.edu, but has the following aliases: ulowell.edu cs.ulowell.edu swan.ulowell.edu ulowell.ulowell.edu As well as shortened names for internal use. I defined PSEUDONYMS and ALTERNATENAMES to handle these. However, with mail addressed to "user@ulowell.edu", the mail is sen to ul-cs fine, then it seems to try and send mail to itself as ulowell.edu, and fails with this error: While talking to ulowell.edu: >>> HELO ul-cs <<< 553 Local configuration error, hostname not recognized as local 554 ... Service unavailable Why is it trying to send to itself? Thanx... ============================================================================ Brian O'Neill - Local Internet Access Account Internet: oneill@bu-pub.bu.edu UUCP : ...!bu.edu!bu-pub!oneill
