Although these all are reasonable and worthwhile questions I fail to
see what relevance they have to INFO-FUTURES which is a list devoted
to the discussion of near-term technology futures.

May I suggest there are other, more appropriate places which would
probably enjoy such a discussion? Comp.edu and misc.education come to
mind (USENET groups). A mailing list that seems to list these issues
is SOFT-ENG@MWUNIX.MITRE.ORG, Perhaps others on this list can E-MAIL
the original sender some suggestions:
