what with the recent appearance of vlt 4.824, i decided to see if it was 
worth ditching the version i've been using (4.426? i think that's it). 
it seems very nice, except that all of the vlt scripts that have worked
seemingly forever all fail.... the command
 send "ATDP5447787*R"
no longer dials my modem. what blindingly simple thing am i missing?
