Yeah, AND improve the performance. But this will only work if you modify the kernel, I guess. > No, the implimentations of the Unix-interfaces are lousy. But no one at Apollo > notices this, because THEY DON'T USE THEM! Apollo's implementation of the Unix-interfaces are lousy! Ever tried to use lpr/lpd? It will drive you mad! Sure, I know prf is _much_ better, but we just happen to like the lpr/lpd, because it allows easy integration of other hosts. > daemons. We need nfs, nntp, nnmaster, sendmail, and all the other daemons. And you can't discuss this need away. > [...] whereas in DomainOS all kinds of things do not work. > > Such as? Domain/OS, now, not the Unix-like environments. I need the UNIX-like environments! I don't care for Aegis! If I have to write a program which works on _any_ UNIX host, I can't use Aegis. This really is Apollo-style. They will say "Just use Aegis, the problems are in the UNIX environments!" But today everybody buys VHS, because you get software (videos) for it. Same thing with UNIX. Aegis may be better, but you don't get software. > I guess HPollo should think _twice_ about killing DomainOS. I know a lot of > > They sure should.
