I have fixed CC65 to cross-compile from Unix (specifically SunOS) using GCC. Sun's C compiler doesn't like the #asm directives, and GCC is portable enough (and free!) I managed to get it to cross-compile/assemble/link itself, and added backslash line continuation while I was at it. If I get enough requests I will try to make the tar.Z file available.
