When building a relatively large library (some 6600 symbols/250 000
characters according to nm output) the ar string table overflows in 
the ranlib phase.  Does anybody know if that can be fixed somehow ?
Does reconfiguring the kernel help (e.g. maxdsiz) or is that string
table internal to ar which means that I will have to split that archieve
into smaller ones ?

We are running HP-UX 7.0 on 9000/370.
