A simple problem:

I want to underline text on the screen; I know I can do this with "colour"
1 on monochrome cards; I know I can't do it on CGA cards without
going into graphics mode; and it looks like it can be done on some VGA cards
that can emulate Hercules, etc. What I want to be able to do is underline text
in text mode on as many EGA-like and VGA-like systems as possible, so I want to
avoid fancy tricks some cards get up to. 

Any suggestions?
