Inquiring minds want to know. I don't know if this is in fact the origin of the name, but Nisus is a character in the Aenid. He was a Trojan and great friend of Eurysalus: when the latter was killed in a night-time raid, Nisus went to avenge him and was himself killed in battle. The two names became a byword for friendships. Presumable the name was chosen because the program is a strong friend.... It fits with the icon, anyway. Jeremy Roussak
