Get yourself a copy of macps for your UNIX box. The application lets you do several things: 1) You can upload JUST a laserprep and store it on your unix machine. After that, only the command-f equivalent files need be uploaded (saves over 30K of uploading per file) 2) A command-f file can have its appropriate laserprep "attached" to it on the unix system. 3) The resulting postscript file will be converted so that it has not got the loooong line lengths in it so it can be e-mailed (or edited under vi). 4) The file is altered to allow graphics and text smoothing on printers other than the apple laserwriter. 5) And last BUT NOT LEAST, it is modified so that it does not try to implant itself on the printer in question. The "printer ate the file and output nothing" is the standard experience when trying to spool a standard command-k type postscript file to a laserprinter. The vanilla command-k file only works when printed from a mac to a printer using Adobe's printps (or something like that. Since I started using macps, I've had no more use for the other one). Real nice program! By the way, you must not have gotten MY mail :-) ... Did you try capturing the MacDraw II command-f by: -clicking AND HOLDING on the print OK dialog -press command-f AND HOLD -THEN release the mouse button from the OK dialog -Keep holding the command-f until the postscript to file dialog shows up We had a fast machine over here that that was the only way to work it (until of course we used MyPageSetup :-). cheers! -- Jeff Wiseman: ....uunet!tellab5!wiseman OR wiseman@TELLABS.COM
